Wrap Up

On Wednesday Jan was able to visit with the kids at the Mother of Mercy Montessori School that the church runs.  She had brought with her pictures from a kindergarten class in Duluth which she shared with the class.  She provided them with paper and crayons and they drew pictures for her to bring back.  They traded addresses and hope to remain in touch.  The kids had many questions for Jan and she enjoyed her morning with them.

Work continued on the chicken coop and the main building.  The floor and foundation were completed as well as the steps. Because of the size of the project and the difficulties getting the floor in perfectly, we knew we would not be able to finish the entire project. After discussion we decided to get the roof framed out.

Fr. Scott was so impressed with the solid foundation of the building that he could really envision it as a church and asked if we could change our plans to put a better, more beautiful roof on the building. This required a redesign so our plans changed and the team worked hard to put up the walls Thursday morning. They did a remarkable amount of work and all the frames were raised and much of the siding put on!

We will hopefully be able to hire local workers to finish the project.

On Wednesday afternoon we took a much needed break and visited the nearby Mayan ruins and on Thursday we caught the 3pm water taxi to Caye Caulker for a day of rest, relaxation, and planning for next year' mission trip.
