The joys of mission work

Being on mission is a unique experience.  A blend of personalities working together in difficult conditions trying to accomplish too much in too little time.  Even with the best laid plans, things always change and usually don't go the way you had hoped. Ultimately, however, the work is in God's hands and as long as the work goes the way He planned, all is good.

This week has brought us incredible weather and many gifts.  We had the privilege of being in Belize at the time a family of 5 is here discerning long term mission work.  The oldest son has been a great help on the main project.  There was another group also discerning mission work that stopped by to help for one morning.  We needed steps built for the building and it happened that one of the members was very adept at building steps!

A young man stopped by Monday morning when he saw us loading wood and said he was looking for work and asked if we could use help,  He was a very capable man and we hired him for two days.  He was a great blessing to Ed with the doors and with Chuck with the chicken coop.

We begin each day with a rosary and Mass and end each day praying the rosary together sitting in the refreshing breeze of the evening.  Beginning and ending our day with prayer is why, I am sure, that we have been so blessed.

Here are some faces and places from our day:
